I have tried to source pure ammonia, no good. I have read it is on the terrorist hit list for explosives, and cannot be purchased. I have also read you can use pee and/or urea. Is this right 40 tsp urea for 1000 litre?

Also using lemon juice to bring PH down is that ok? 8.4 here so it's very alkaline.

Aquaponics is a little like every other subject one book says one thing and another says the opposite.

I do very much enjoy this site, there seems to be some very nice people using it. And I respect the fact that people put the time and effort in to help us newbie's. Thanks guys very much appreciated. :flower:

Get some charlie carp or cycle with fish. You would need a lot of lemon juice to put a dent in the PH so usually muriatic acid is preferred. Although 8.4 isnt too bad, actually it would be a preferable level for cycling and as the nitrification process develops your PH normally comes down slowly anyways.
