My IBC came today. My fathers day gift from my family:) So the quest begins, Which way to go, Seeing as I have 3 concrete tubs and 3 baths full of plants, I guess it will grow like Topsy I have never had a problem growing veggies, problem is getting older and less nimble becomes a problem. My Dads advice was, "If ya can't eat it, don't grow it" ha haa, never forgotten that line. I have a 1 barrel system I set up but that is still cycling. I suppose that will be handy when I set the IBC up for fish, I can use it to help the new system along. Ok enough rambling for now I will have to do some very serious pondering about where everything will go. That could take a while Now I need to figure how to post a photo. |

This is my secret, yummy compost tea. That is me standing in front of the tubs my plants are HUGE And no I don't drink beer. compost tea= sheep manure, chook pellets, blood and boner, seasol, maxicrap, molasses and a an air stone. Bubble for 24 hours and I usually mix 2 litres to 8 litres water at room temperature. AND stand back before the plants get ya

Okay I finally am nearly set up. 2 baths and a 300m deep square shower bath 1 more bath for a sump and 1 ibc with a few guppies in it for now, pump working well syphons working. Gravel comes tomorrow morning, anyone want to help I seem to have learnt a little about water in the last few weeks lol. Will take some pics and post soon. Fish will be silver perch, may have to wait a little while for the $$ to buy them. Has been an interesting exercise so far, learning along the way. The learning will go on for quite a while I suspect. My son's will be next, smart kid lets dad figure it out then asks me to help lol. And oh, the joys of wicking beds, what an amazing way of growing, got some bumper lettuce, tomatoes got beans, okra and a few others on the go. So it's all good here and thanks for some badly needed help along the way. Oh one question baths are approx 250 ltr so I imagine with gravel in them they will take about 50 ltr water? Am I close? |
