Growing Power is the brain child of Will Allen, a farmer and former professional basketball player. He runs a farm on 2 or 3 acres in northern Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which he named growing power. It started as a community project. He was trying to give teens who needed it a place to work. The farm produces 1,000,000 lbs of food in a combination of composting and aquaponics. Reading an article about this place in Urban Farm Magazine is what got me searching for ways to grow fish in my back yard. Check out this video, and then Growing Power's website. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV9CCxdkOng http://www.growingpower.org/Index.htm |
