I am currently reading a good deal about how aquaponics would work in Australia. Problem is I live in an area of Canada that gets a pretty decent winter. I would love to see how people have either kept a system going during this time or put it into hibernation. Do you stop feeding the fish as much and just try and keep veg going in a heated green house or what? I was thinking long term of building a specialized room for the system using rammed earth walls in order to trap and efficiently heat in winter but I am not sure how realistic the winter growing option is. I guess what I am looking for is to find a year in aquaponics diary or blog from someone living in the frozen north. Cheers Johnny ---Johnny 3nglish--- |

I have been wondering the same cold climate issues here in Massachusetts. I found evacuated solar hot water collectors made in china that i am considering to heat a greenhouse/fish tank need more engineering help on size of system to maintain enough warmth. just in idea phase at this time . |
