IRES, an Australian company, has just finished construction of their second aquaponics system in Aceh Province, Indonesia. This is the second of hopefully many that will be built throughout the tsunami ravaged areas of Indonesia.

The first system that was completed last month, was a pilot system to be sure that the design would work using the local materials, and under local conditions in Indonesia. Due to the resounding success of the first system, construction of the second system began immediately under the watchful eye of Steve Moon, an IRES employee who coordinated the building of the first system.

These aquaponic systems that IRES have built, based on the backyard aquaponics manual, are hoped to become a model for aid and food organizations throughout the world.
