I am glad I found this thread. I am heading up a group for my church heading to the mountains of northern east Thailand. About 5 k's from the Laotian border.
We are looking to introduce aquaponics and permaculture to the Lua people. The Lua people currently farm mountain rice, unfortunately, essentially using slash and burn farming. After I mentioned aquaponics to the local Pastor, just the idea of aquaponics had him excited.
I have had some contact with "Chappo" and he has given me some useful information. But, any other information from people that might of had mission experience would be great.

Search for "International Aquaponics Task Team" here on this forum. A lot of us here brainstormed on ideas, natural input sources, possible problems, and designs in the hope that the UN would be interested in investing in AP systems in distressed areas. Sadly, the discussion died but the information is still there and it would be great if someone could put it to practical use.
