Yeah the rain held off alright, but it was very cold there at nearly 6 oclock. Re-reading last workshop posts from last month, it was almost word for word. If the weather front that came through last night arrived today the workshop would have been cancelled as the car park was flooded, but when you get a group of positive thinking people together more often than not the weather will be just fine. Thankyou to the powers of the universe :dontknow:

Charlie, surely you misunderstood, it is all hard work :funny1: talking about fish and how I cook them, what names to give them- like Sushi.
Taking photos of bugs  researching them, writing about them, growing veges that are sometimes larger than life, quicker and look and taste better than shop stuff. Well then there is the side hobbies of chooks, eggs and rabbits, might have forgot to tell you about all that. Did you know we do pizza ovens too, they smoke fish as well as cook pizzas and roasts.
Oh yeah nearly forgot to tell you the next workshop is on the 23rd July 3.30-5.30pm at the shop. Includes afternoon tea

Everyone is invited to our workshop Prawnz! :wave1: And your attendance would be greatly appreciated. Did you want to meet any one in particlular who is famous?
The cost is $55-00 and held at our display centre in Jandakot on a monthly basis. Saturday afternoons from 3.30-5.30pm. Bookings and payment are essential as we limit the numbers so that everyone is able to hear and has the opportunity to ask questions. The sessions run for 2 hours, although it is generally nearly 6 when we leave, light refreshments are included and take home notes include a printed magazine, information about aquponics and 5 copies of the magazine on disc, valued at over $35-00, so you don't go home empty handed.

Dates change every month, depends a little on my social calender Charlie!
Here is a link to the workshop page where dates are on display, http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/shop. ... egory_id=7
Any questions just ask, sometimes there is a slight delay getting the dates up there.

Another workshop was run today at the diplay centre in Jandakot. We were fortunate once again to have fine weather, though a little chilly, but you have to expect that here in winter. The overnight rain meant that all the leaves had that fresh look and the tanks were full to the brim.

Carl explained the different fish species on display and their preferances for water temperatures.

This mint basil has an unsual flavour and has been planted into a floating ring with expanded clay. It does not seem to mind the cold weather at all and has quickly filled the basket as mints are inclined to do.

This artichoke has been doing well since it was planted during the summer months, it will be interesting to see when the flower heads develop.

I was looking for a different view and found an elevated position amongst the seedlings  The DIY system on the left is stocked with black bream, they are very, very slow growing but still feed every other day in winter, only small amounts. The media in the bed is blue metal and that hasn't seemed to be a problem for many plants growing such as the lettuces and this 6 month old passionfruit, already fruiting.

The media is not one that I look forward to planting in due to its heavy nature and sharp edges, it may be a tough job but someone has to do it :dontknow:
