Hi all.

Would this system work well to put into a system and forget (warning to tell me if something is wrong)?

http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route= ... sqWRvQW2NY

The price is about right, and easy enough to hook up to the arduino.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure that anything can be left forever without having a slime coat change it's readings.

This is just a guess, but I suspect the inevitable slime layer that would build up on anything left in the water might have a different reading from the rest of the water.

It would be worth testing even if it did read a different pH though. You might find that it consistently read
+2 or something. That would still be useful if you took it into account.

Is this making any sense? :)

Accounting for the slime layer (adding +2 to the results) would be extremely easy. But do you think the probe would only be reading the slime, or would it still read the water behind?

The price point seems reasonable too. I just don't want to spend the money if it doesn't work. I'm happy to spend money to make me lazier though. Too bad there are no cheap nitrate/nitrite/ammonia sensors. :(
