And regardless of your offer, I dont think I'll need to take you up on it.

Those questions are to see if some other venture is viable.

Can you tell me how much such a tennis ball would cost to print as well?

I guess you need to know thickness as well. I don't really know how strong 3D printed stuff is, but say... however thick you would need it so you could give it to a three year old to play with, and expect it not to be broken the next day.

I'm pretty sure a three year old playing with something for a day is an ISO survivability standard :)

I just unpacked my broken camera to see what's inside, and it turns out it's full of fun stuff.

I found a nice little motor that adjusts a plate where the final lens is mounted. The plate has a nut mounted into it, and the motor has a shaft

I've been avoiding the capacitor for the flash, because I think that's what bit me a few years ago when I broke open the previous camera.

Ouchie.

If I just short it with a screwdriver (carefully) ...

a. Will it then be safe :?:

b. Will that fry the cap :?:

c. Is this thing actually dangerous :?:

Yep short it out BW, will be safe and harmless. Unless you short it out with your eye... Don't do that.

2 axis solar tracking, with a very simple circuit...

I keep going back to that video every now and again.

Is that your circuit?

Do you know if there is an instructable or something?

It's not my circuit but I've designed and built similar things.

I think you should build it :-)

Or you could create a pulley system and attach one end of the pulley to a model train. Press a button, train moves forward and vent opens.

Also if you put a swivel join on top of the train where the string attaches too then when the train does a loop on the way back the vent will close.

If you go down the MAGLEV route then you could also incorporate this:

I think I will make that circuit. It should scale up nicely.

I think I'm going with threaded rod,

I think my growhouse is not UV stable so I think it's about to go to landfill as there is a small frayed section that's getting bigger each week. The result is I think I might skip the opening a vent in the growhouse stage, and go direct to making a solar panel track the sun. I have everything I need to take my system to stand alone solar power (the solar charge controller is on a boat, but should be here within a week or two), so I think making that solar tracker in the video should be my next project.

Fantastic! There's something very satisfying about rolling up the power cord for the last time, never to be seen again :-)

Do you have a link to the original build?

And can anyone with a 3D printer tell me how much it would cost to print a hollow tennis ball shaped thing so it was strong/thick enough for... say a three year old to play with , without breaking it.
