MGE pulsar evolution 800 UPS.

Mine showed the same symptoms when I dusted it off, when I connected the new battery it came back to life. The way I saw it was; I'm up for a battery if the UPS works or not.

Pulsar evolution series is an online UPS from memory so it won't work without a battery. Again from memory there is no light untill you press the power button for about 3 secs to start it.

Jamie, You can get adapters at places like dick smith/jaycar for about $5.

I tried hooking up my new marine battery to the used UPS this weekend and it immediately clicked and showed the overload light.

Dave, try checking the battery voltage 1st. Or even give it a charge on a normal charger. Quite possible it is low due too sitting on the shelf for a long time and the UPS has not got the grunt to charge that big a battery.

okay, so last week I scored a ups from work, but it has the sockets that go into computers, not normal power sockets. how do I hook up the air pump to this?

Replacing the battery process depends a bit on what UPS it is.

damn, the Pulsar 800 is 24v, the 2x12v batteries were connected in series and the manual confirms it.

apart from getting a 2nd car battery in series is there a way I can still use this using 1 car battery?

Is anyone willing to write up a how-to. Even if it's not going to be the same for every UPS it's just worth knowing if it's something we readers could contemplate attempting.

Perhaps the next person to do it could take a few photos as they do.

I have fixed hundreds of UPS's and never once had a flat battery.
They have a built in trickle charger to charge the battery when it is low.
If the battery was simply flat from sitting on a shelf for too long, the UPS would charge it.
