Having some fun with it now.
Had to switch to VC++ which was a pain.
Never really got on with it, VB is so much quicker to develop with but this is the first time I have actually _had_ to use VC 'cos VB just wasn't quick enough.

Help Me Please, All I want to do is protect my fish if my power goes out. Rob Bob shows a relay that is a little bigger than a match box and that is exactly what I'm looking for. My 12 volt system stays fully charged and if the power should go out this switch would lessen my worry some what. For all storms (Hurricanes) I stay at work and can't get home until after the event.

I asked Grainger and they said the piece didn't exists. If you can please pass on your knowledge it would surely help.

Thank You, Gil

Gil,

This isn't what Rob runs on his system. But, it certainly would work for this.

I currently run an automatic transfer switch (relay) that switches power from mains to backup, as soon as the power fails. I currently have it running my network. I will transfer it to my fish in a few days and build another for my network.

Plug one male end into your backup electric supply. Plug another male end into the mains. Plug your pump into the female plug.

If you want exactly what Rob has, why not shoot him a message and ask him where he bought it from? If you are in another country, I am sure there is a way to sort out getting one to you.

This is just a commonly available DPDT relay (+SW1), I've got half a dozen of them sitting around (in 24VDC and 12VDC), and they should be available at any decent electronics store in DC or mains voltage AC versions.
