I've been working on a wifi aquaponics system and wanted to check in to see what features people are most interested in. Right now I've set two people up with the systems, it monitors pH, DO, water temperature, and air temperature and sends the data to the cloud. Here's a link for what one of the dashboards look like: https://portals.exosite.com/views/3102634191/2406506743. Right now I'm working on the nitrate and ammonia sensors. It's looking promising so far but it looks like it will still need weekly calibrations. There's also 2 outputs to control these http://www.powerswitchtail.com/Pages/default.aspx for pumps or lights. Mainly I'm looking for feedback on whether controlling pumps, lights, and vent openers for the greenhouse is important or if people just want to monitor their system using sensors.

Two, that could be valuable as a tell-tale.. Air-Pressure, and water flow and possibly pressure...

Water Flow - naturally an indication of both pump efficiency, and signs of blockage...
Air Pressure - a hint that the pump is failing

Water clarity could be interesting, as a Head's-Up that something has changed..

The Air-Pressure input (threshold setting), could be used to activate a relay for change-over to a backup pump (needing a process for activating the default air pump)

A voltage input... could be used, along with a relay output, to switch to backup power..
..
.

That makes sense those would be great alerts to get to know something went wrong. For detecting the pump failure where would the pressure sensor go? I hadn't thought of this but that would be great to detect a pump failure.

really nice layout. I'd imagine two versions, one for people that want controls, and a second for readings only. If this helps keep complexity down.

Having the 2 separate systems could be a good approach. It's difficult to cram in all the features into one system and it seems like some people would want one or the other.

I've got an Aduino on my desk right now, having done zero with it to date, I'd be interested to learn how much you're talking about selling these for?
