Has anyone heard from Davetpilot? I have looked through the diy water heater element but can't find results. I am about to build one and was wondering if anyone had long term good results. I am just looking for a 10 deg bump.

In reality I think there is no cure for heating a fish tank. How many solar projects do you hear start up and succeed. Show me one that posted a way to to make solar, rocket heater or whatever last a year!

While it won't give you everything you want temperature wise, one of the best solar heaters around for us is one that no one really calls a solar heater - a greenhouse. The fact that it encloses the entire system makes all the difference. Check out ZsaZsa's solar greenhouse for instance.
