I am new to solar stuff, but want to set up a simple system to circulate about 100-150 litres of water.
I would really appreciate info on suggested solar panel size, battery type (could I use gel filled car battery) and pump size.
Any suggestions for makes or models of pumps / equipment would be great and suppliers?
I live in Richmond NSW! Hot summer, cool winter (some frost) and lots of sunlight.
Many thanks in advance
Bob

It's all about your electrical load.

May I suggest that you get your (I assume) aquaponics system up and running to find out how much power it takes to run it first.

Depending on the type of system you have in mind, you might be able to get away with an air lift.

These are worth a read ...

Hi Bojulabah,

You are gonna have to give us a better description of your system and what your are wanting to achieve. Giving us a better understanding of your goals will allow us to be more helpful to you in solving this problem.

In cases like this a picture is definitely worth a thousand words.

Be sure to include an overview of your system, information about how high you want to pump your 100-150 liters and things like do you want to pump continuously are are satisfied with a 100-150 liters per hour average.

See you can run into problems like 100-150 liters spread evenly over an hour is very doable, with solar, but it might not be really enough flow to drive a solids lifting overflow. If however you break that 100-150 per hour into say six discreet blocks of two minutes then those more vigorous periods of flow would create sufficient flow for a solids lifting overflow This is just an example

Anyway good luck with the system.
I will subscribe to this thread and will chime in if I think I have something to offer.
