Price the glass as well before you commit to DIY. I was quoted $200 for tempered glass to fit my 230watt solar panel that I nabbed for $50.

Also I understand if some cells are faulty in a panel, you can get them dirt cheap from the manufacturers, and build a new panel from two faulty ones. I'd ask a retailer to see if they have broken ones

One of the problems with roof mounting solar panels onto a camper van is that you usually want to park in the shade.

Are you thinking of roof mounting or something you unpack and put in the sun?

Joel, I don't know if you have already decided and made purchases but I would suggest you keep what you have panel wise and buy a decent regulator and AGM batteries and use these to determine what you actual usage is. A good regulator like a German Steca PR2020 (watch out for Chinese knockoffs on ebay) when wired into the camper will monitor your solar production and your load draw and give you a far better idea of what you need before you go spending money that you may not need to. This is how I wire up all camper trailer installs I do. If you want a basic diagram of this drop me an email and I will send it to you, it's to big to post here.
