Hey @BW had a bit of a drama today no Power and lucky me cold temps and enough time for me to get my stubborn generator running.. GMC tool way cheap and still running after 4yrs..

With our current ongoing discussion on Airlift's would you say that it is more important to run air into all ponds to keep the fish happy.. I know I can get an airlift to turn over the pond if I need to..

Now all I need is to be pointed in the right direction..

Sorry I missed this post in my fog...

If you can only have filtration or air, I would guess air would be the short term priority, but Rup would know better. I've never actually run air, but I think running something on some kind of UPS, and something else on mains power is a good idea in case your UPS falls over for some reason.

I dont know about such stuff, but depending on how I left it the last time I fiddled with it, my system often runs with just the powerhead running from my inverter. But my inverter only cost 30$ for 300watt special, so I have no idea what the quality is and tend not to trust it.

I think when I settle on a system design, it will have a pump on the inverter and 200 amphour deep cycle battery, with a power head plugged into mains. That way I can control the pump with a PICAXE project controlling the 12 volt feed to the inverter. (I dont want to play with 240 volts because I conduct electricity way too well) The demand feeder can run off the same 12 volt project, so if the 12 volt system fails, the feeder stops, but the powerhead still runs giving the fish something to breath at least.

I think BYAP systems use battery backup air rather than pumps, so that might give some clue.

that air pump is interesting, you could also add some additional batteries to it to make it run basically FOREVER...
