A VET has savaged the findings of his own taskforce after it found no definitive link between farm chemicals and two-headed fish at a Queensland hatchery.

Fish scientist and vet Matt Landos was part of a taskforce formed to look at deformities, including double-headed and three-tailed fish, at the Sunland Fish Hatchery near Noosa.

But Dr Landos says its majority finding - that chemicals used on a neighbouring nut farm could not be definitively blamed - is seriously flawed.

He says the taskforce was stacked with bureaucrats and others who lacked the right scientific expertise to make a proper judgment.

Among its members were 10 scientists, six government communication and policy officers, and the chief executive of the Australian Macadamia Association

Yeah, of course they would be very helpful in working out whether the spray had an effect on the fish..

I would've thought a two headed fish was a good thing... two heads, they'd eat twice as much and consequently grow twice as quick... wouldn't they??? :dontknow:

The chemical blamed for these abnormalities is endosulfan, along with some other nasty side effects it has
Fortunately it was banned in october last year.....unfortunately you can still use it for the next two years....so every macca farmer will be dumping shiploads of it on their crops to use it up. :-x

Why are genetic %$^%ups never tasty? I want a mutant crayfish, with a pin head, an enormous spherical tail, loves fresh water, with thousand island dressing for blood. How hard can that be to organise?

Where is [insert favourite deity/evolutionist/great pumpkin] when you need them?

Someone isn't pulling their weight!

And another thing! Why doesn't salad form a direct symbiotic relationship with protein that can swim, and just grow on its back like it should? A SilverPerchLetuceGingerAndLimeSaladFish makes much more sense!
