I've been looking at building more usability and different advanced functions into the forum and one of the easiest ways to do this would be to install something like www.jomsocial.com This would add more social networking aspects to the forum where members can have their own picture and video galleries, people can start or join specific interest groups, members can have their own blogs built in and all interlinked with the forum. Has anyone used sites with jomsocial before? Any particular comments from anyone about the idea?? |

groups, blogs and picture/ vid galleries sound like a great idea, especially for documenting systems etc. |

I like the idea of picture and video galleries. I would think additional features would help. |

I've done lots of joomla development before. Jomsocial is not too bad... It's not seemless though and there is a lot of holes and things left to be desired. If you have time/money everything about joomla can be customized. |

I'm having our magazine site redesigned in Joomla at the moment and boy I'm amazed at what the guy is coming up with, very versatile. Compared with our BYAP site where we have to go into the back end and start new articles, make sure they are the right number of words, then publish them in the right spot, very basic, and hard to train staff to update it... But the new mag site will be all automated, no one will have to go into the back end because there's a user interface set up for doing everything... |

Should have an online demo in the next week or so, expect to be live in 2-3 weeks, taking a little longer than I hoped, but isn't that always the case.. |
