+1

Lets all hope the tropical low which is currently in the kimberly's and expected to head SW looses strength before it gets to the 'danger' area, something we don't want.

Crazy, crazy stuff.... My day off today and I spent over half the day just watching the reports coming out...

And the agonising wait for those that know it's coming but can do little about it except wait.... :support:

Totally sick of the rain+ now

Headed to the Gold Coast on boxing day for family holiday and now we cannot get back to Mackay for maybe another week or more.

Brisbane in real trouble, predicting 20,000 homes to be affected and 3,500 businesses. 90 people still missing and grave fears for life of 18 at least.

And it is still bloody raining.

Some of the stories starting to come out are shocking... A media helicopter that found 3 people still alive inside a car floating in a huge sea of water in the middle of nowhere. The young girl who floated for miles on a car then managed to jump to someone standing on a bridge, just as the car went under the bridge..

Nasty images and stories coming from Granthom, thats the one I find hard to comprehend when you see the images of the water flowing past the big old green hotel with a guy standing on top.

In the following video at 2.00 minutes into it, you see the aftermath of the building then shortly after that at about 2.30 you see the water gushing past it at a tremendous rate the day before.

And thats a big wide open flat area, it's not like it's a narrow ravine the water is flowing through.

I've been listening and watching the news live,

Watching boats attached to moorings rocketing down the Brisbane river.

Watching containers float down rivers and hearing of a freak'n big white tank wiping out the pub of a country town, now they have no beer.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those families and friends of those lost,

Personally my friends are OK in Brisbane, my cousin in Toowoomba is flooded out but OK, his sister car was in the driveway and got swept and totaled.

How's all of our other forum members in Queensland?

It just shows the force of mother nature when she flexes her muscle, nothing and no one gets in her way.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you folk in Queensland. and please, stay out of the water for goodness sake, remember only a foot of water in a torrent can knock you off your feet.

Cheers.

Further more

The office will be open business hours, They are chasing the following.

Non Perishable Foods,
Clothing
Shelter Items (tarps, Blankets etc etc.)
Toiletries (Toothpaste, Loo Roll, Toothbrushes etc)

They are chasing new items if possible but I am sure common sense applies. If you can box and label the items it is preferred.

If you are a business in a position to donate large quantities there will be a forklift on hand to unload pallets etc.

The warehousing and distribution of the items once in QLD will be managed by The Salvation Army.

Hi,
My family is fine in Toowoomba. It seems qld is about to pay for decades of growth in floodways. My son has a police scanner......... police searching the valley are finding whole houses with families washed away without a trace. May they have the strength to continue the search.

Toowoomba is totally isolated. Range roads are cut by slides and flooding has washed out the highways in all directions. Food is gone in supermarkets and fuel is nearly gone. By the looks it will be a few days before supplies come in from the south. And we're the lucky ones!!!!

Thanks
Bruce (Toowoomba lurker)
Hoping the power doesn't go out because I've only got 9 kg of gas.
