Hi All,

I thought I would make you all aware if you are not of the new burst of interest into 3D Printing. Most of you have played around with Google Sketchup to design your systems but imagine if you come up with a new syphon or something.

You design it in SketchUp then send it off to an online 3d printer who will make the 3d model for you. Even better for around $3500 you can get your own printer and prototype your on designs.

Check out some of these videos to give you an idea

There are loads more on youtube, check it out.

Imagine the business that will generate from this.

No more having to go out and buy lego to replace a lost part :)
Replace plastic buckles, where is the tupperware lid gone? Make your own phone cover, "B" is out of 50mm to 25mm reducer :D
Make your own toys and market them...

I am excited about this as I am about AP :D, bring it on.

Have to start saving the $3,500, I'm pretty crap at making stuff myself, this is the ultimate Boy's Toy imo :D

I've been waiting for these things for 25 years. Back then I was in art school studying industrial design. I've seen them in action & it's pretty cool.

They're as sturdy as... plastic. The plastic gets "printed" layer by layer. Negative space gets printed with wax that gets melted away.
