I want to try a wood heated hot tub, and I have access to a old fiberglass tank that would be perfect, however it's a bit itchy! any recommendations? I was wondering if drylock would make "bottom friendly", or do I need to epoxy it? I'm looking for cheap, I don't have much free income right now I thought this might be a bit to off topic for the hardware forum? If it should be here just let me know Thanks! |

chance wrote: or do I need to epoxy it? dont use epoxy on fiberglass it doesn`t bond to good and may flake causing sharp edges. if your going cheep then use a cheep external paint to seal those loose fibers then use that latex stuff to waterproof the lot Remember a poor man pays for things twice If ya going to do something do it once and do it wright |

Ok, I take your point about paying twice. So just so I can consider all of my options properly, what would you recommend as a not-so-cheap-but-the-right-way-to-do-it solution? Thanks in advance by the way! |

hay chance... long time no chat..... you could mix up some straight fiberglass resin and roll it on the surface.... it will be like putting on a clear coat to seal the fibers... jT |

Hey JT! How is life treating you? It has been awhile! I'm finally getting all settled in here at my new place, and I have to say it's nice being out in the country. Hopefully I will be setting up an IBC based aquaponics system this spring now that I finally have a yard to put it in! I think I'll use the resin suggestion, thanks |

I am new to this board and to aquaponics, however I have 30 years of experience keeping fish of all kinds including reef aquariums. And even a few more years growing anything I have space for. The link below is a product that will make your project go smoothly. In fact this web site has a huge amount of great products if you are not already familiar with it.
