RIP Malcolm Douglas :occasion5: , Love him or hate him he put the North of Western Australia on the map, I remember him coming to school in 1969 (CBC Highgate) and we were mesmerized by his adventures

Malcolm Douglas was a true icon of Australian bush craft and ingenuity. Some of the things he did in the boat and 4wd were truely amazing, and some of the places he went are simply the most beautiful in Australia.

He will be truly missed.

... But how does one crash into a tree on their own property?

I imagine it would be a sombre time in Broome. That guy was a local icon - no, a legend - no, a god!

Yep, rest easy big fella... A bloody legend. :occasion5:

For those of you who don't know who Malcolm is, he's the original crocodile hunter, a champion for the bush, especially up in the north of W.A., and also for Australian native animal preservation.

The "In the bush with Malcolm Douglas" series was great, real tv where he caught things, killed them, cooked them up and ate them. Or with bardi grubs he ate them raw and wriggling....

What a bummer. He is the man who makes me want to go travelling around Australia with a tinny. Funny story... a mate of mine was fishing on the Cape once, caught a massive barra off the beach, Malcolm was there, said, hey mate can I borrow your fish for a moment, it's a ripper, then the cameras rolled  True Aussie larrikan.
