So a friends hound bit me, on the foot, I was rubbing her back with it when she suddenly decided she din't like it. Wasn't a bad bite, well not a really bad one anyways.

Went today and got myself the rabies vaccination, I thought we lived in a world where you only needed one shot for this sort of thing.

I got five shots! One on each of my thighs, as I refused to get them in the bum, one in the arm, and a number of them on the foot, around the bite.

Damn doctor lied to me there, told me needed just one down at the wound, made me lie back and stop looking, then proceeded to poke the hell out of my foot!

Bits and pieces hurt, damn dog.

And have to get four more shots over the course of the next four weeks!

Now how long does the vaccination last for? I figure if I'm going through this whole procedure and the pain and all that, I might as well much about with some dogs while I'm safe for it.

While you have the vaccine in your system you could get even and bite the dog. :D

I've heard about the rabies vaccination. Yes - that's sound about right for the return jabs. But I'm surprised at the need for the multi-jabs on thighs, feet etc etc.

You know, dogs just get a little jab in the rump. Once every three years. Hardly seems fair does it?

Better to safe than sorry though. Keep the area clean. Hard I know when it's your foot. But for general infection control try to keep it clean.

Take care.
