The lottery is massive in Thailand they talk about it days before and after the event...
The government runs a national one, but there are 1000's of illegal local ones.

We have 2 Tarantula nests in the garden, they are supposed to be very lucky and have the ability to predict the lottery results (I just smile and nod at this, but I guess it's kinda cute)

This pic is of the nest site the night before the last lottery.
Candles, incense and flowers are supposed to please this giant spider.
The family write 10 numbers on small peices of paper and then (carefully) insert the peices into the nest, followed by 1 hour praying.
The Tarantula gets annoyed at this and starts to throw the peices of paper out of the nest 1 by 1.
The first 2 numbers that come out of the nest are considered to be the following day's winning numbers.

Our Tarantula picked 3 and 5, the winning numbers.... 7 and 9, damn... back to the drawing board.

No real point to this post, just wanted to share a little jungle madness :)

I think some asian superstition also believes that some particular breed of fishes (cannot remember what they are called now) as they grow tend to "show numbers" on their heads. The owners tend buy lottery with "those numbers"...
