The answer is YOU. It is this forum and the community it has created that makes this type of aquaponics succesful. Without the FREE help that everyone is always so kindly offering, I am sure that this hobby/lifestyle would be so much harder. Let me just say a big thankyou to all the people who take the time to offer their thoughts about a topic or question. And also specifically to Johnnie7au who gave me some Azolla today, while also offering some Tilapia fry. It is this generosity that makes this community special. Hopefully someday I will be able to share some seeds that I have saved with others in WA. Then again if anyone wants any pak choi or Mitsuna seeds I do already have plenty. The boys at Ecocity have a lot to catch up to, to create a product that has a support line as dedicated as everyone here. |

FizzyJ, i'm just back from a hard night on the turps with a close mate from interstate, but i am coherent enough to say a heart felt "you're welcome!" Personally i have not seen an as close knit group of people spanning multiple continents. I'm proud to be part of BAP. Ther is a general feel here of "giving without expecting return", quite rare in todays society. Your thanks is kindly appreciated. Today i called up Les, some one i have never met before, but we talked as if we had known each other for years. Maybe we should patent generosity.................................. Steve |

It's all about sharing.. ") You wouldn't believe the buzz I get from seeing the things that happen here on the forum. It's amazing to think that 8 months ago I started this forum to try and get people talking about aquaponics a bit more, as the only existing forums were very slow, without much participation. After a fairly slow start to things, it's really kicked into high gear, and now it's almost impossible to keep up with everything going on. You're dead right FJ, it's the members on the group that make it what it is. This forum isn't about a particular product or method, it's about people working together to find new and better ways to support themselves and their families... This sort of information should never be patented or locked up for only a few... |

James ... It was so nice to meet you and your partner .. I wish I coulkd have given you something better than a bag of pondweed! maybe next time we could do it over a few coldies... maybe with a few other Perthies .. who visit this site.. This time of the year .. I am well and truly loaded regards schoolwork, marking etc. etc.. I think that maybe between Backyard aquaponics , The Perth Cichlid Soc .. Perhaps an excuse for an informal meet just before Christmas at the Elizibethan Village? Beer is lovely food is nice too! Worth organising a meet in WA before Christmas maybe? |

Missed this bump... it is an old thread... Strange thing happened to me yesterday, I'm staying in a caravan park down in Hopetoun on the south coast, miles from everything, and I was chatting to the guy in the van next to me, as you do. Talk gets around to what people did for work and I mention aquaponics and he said, "I thought I knew you"... Well, it turns out that he actually came around to my house about 10 years ago to look at my AP system, back before there was a shop.. He pulled out his laptop and showed me pictures of the system he set up back then and still has running now.. Small world.... |

I don't think you fully realise what a gift this forum has been to the world. Absolutely priceless. Thank you very much. |
