All of a sudden we are having a rush of new members from Illinois? What has happened to spark this interest?

What is the time range of this increase? There was a really nasty cold snap three weeks ago. Did it happen since then? And then there was that guy, what's-his-name, who got elected last November. Wasn't he from there? *grin*. And I hear he has a garden at his home office, so perhaps imitation is sparking interest in gardening of all sorts. |

Probably that wave of arctic air, then. We drove through and the weather actually got warmer as we crossed Wyoming, normally the coldest part of the trip, while Ohio through Nebraska were just miserable.

Hello from Illinois. I don't know about the others but I got interested in this a couple years ago. I like to go fishing at night but don't always feel like cleaning fish at midnight so I bought a little childrens swimming pool to keep the catfish in until I was ready for a nice dinner. After a while I noticed a good deal of algae growing and figured the water should support more than just little green stuff. Since my wife and I both like to garden we decided to look into AP and started our first system this year. Naturally we found you guys after we were already rolling but I plan on using quite a few ideas we've picked up from many of you next year. And yes we had about 10 inches of snow about a week ago and an ice storm this week with rain in the forcast. You gotta love it. Cheers, Mike and Nada |

I think Growing Power is mostly in Wisconsin but that is right next to Illinois. The cold weather may have just kept people indoors enough that they actually registered for the forum and started posting. It seems most of them have mentioned being silent observers till just now. |
