I've noticed that quite a few of us seem to be the types who don't like to give big corporations their money.
Anyway, we live in an outer suburb of Townsville (seems to be considered by the PTB's to be the poor cousins who should be ignored) :protest: and we were told 18 months ago that it would be years before we got broadband access to the area and then only to those homes within a 5km radius of the phone exchange.
A group of manic folk set up the Wireless Alligator Creek Consortium (WACC, and yes, we're all a bunch of waccers
) to provide quality broadband access to those areas that wouldn't be serviced by "them".
