What? A bit of reo with a bend in the end to form a hook, and a handle welded on the other end is not just as easy? That looks like one of those weird weeding tools.
Only problem is, there's concrete everywhere when you want to lift the reo. It would not seat properly. The demo is done without any reo, and besides, most of the time you don't need to lift it much if you've got enough bar-chairs put in.

??? chairs go in before the concrete...or a kick up the backside is in order
Hook is made from an off cut of mesh with the attached cross wire,
and yes a bend at the end...But if you need to lift the mesh when
sitting on plastic a hook is not easy to get under the mesh
also when the mesh 'laps' the lifting lug (using the tool) would need to be on the under side of the lap
Easier to lift by hand IMHO

So we agree the cited tool is useless :-D

I've only ever used my hand, but a mate came to help me on my last job, and brought the reobar hook... I guessed it would be easier, yet didn't try it.

Lifting the mesh is why I'm going to hire a couple of blokes to help me with the next slab I have to do.

I like the hand held lifter for carrying gyprock sheets tho. Thats a handy tool.
