Hey all..... I had previously mentioned that we didnt have any specialty shops in town.... well we now have a full service hydroponics store... just a few miles from me.. I stopped in to check it out.... pretty nice.... but expensive wow.... they had a rain barrel... 295.00 US... out of my price range LOL.... guess I will just continue to use my free 55 gallon drums and add the parts I need to make them rain barrels... anyway.... I guess we are coming up in the world..... in this economy, I hope they make it.. jT |

At least they may have a decent range of fittings and tubing Decal... the hydro shops are usually pretty good for those kind of things |

You might also be able to get them to order any particular things that you might have trouble finding locally like perhaps maxicrop with iron or just plain maxicrop and then perhaps some chleated iron if you find you need it. They might also stock things like the uniseals or top hat grommets that are so useful for avoiding $$ bulkhead fittings. |

true..... they do carry maxicrop but didnt ask about anything else... but will as they are interested in my AP system... and want to keep up to date.... on the progress I have started pre-fabing the fish tank sides..... using plywood and 2 x 4's all screwed and glued.....so when I take the plants out in may, I can start implementing the design right away.. Im not sure how much putting insulation in the chambers will help, since its in a greenhouse... I will insulate around the sump tank, since its in the ground.... any thoughts on this? thanks JT |

I have found that our local hydroponic store was very interested in my AP system and very helpful. They are a great source of information with beneficial bugs, hoses, pumps and hydroton. My first grow beds were hydroponic, but I am moving to barrels for the same reason, the cost. |
