Anyway AM, its serious but not. every now and then 9 to 12 months or so i go into artial fibrillation. heart rate goest to 120 resting (clocked up 182 on the ER dyno first time and they had to give me the "clear!" to set it back on track.) Even conned the nurse there to photo copy the printout during the "stand clear" wanted to frame it for a laugh. Anyway, you see how jovial i am about it? well i was like this and more while i was in the ER, which is probvably why they sent 6 different people to ask me if i had "taken anything". LOL, even got sneaky about it with the last person. I guess they just couldn't comprehend someone who was happy and joking around. The way i figure there were people on deaths door on either side of me, what did i have to be all "woe is me" about And people are so much nicer when you are nice to them, they really don't expect it its just giving me the shits becasue it pops up out of nowhere and make me look like an invalid when i'm not. |

Heather's mums heart was doing the same thing, and they eventually burnt out her SA node, while she was conscious |

VB nah, i think they tough i had been dropping pills or something along those line, which i hadn't or ever have. I guess i was just to happy and excited for them. Stu, thanks, that what i needed to hear When you say concious i bet you they used that twilight anaesthetic.......Midazolan-Hydrochloride. You're sedated but consious and able to interact with the doctors, but you don't remember any of it. i came out of it midway through a sentance that i didn't remember starting. Got all freaked out at home when i looked it up, (i have a reasonable memory) I don't mind being under but being awake for an experience and being amde not to remember it is just not cricket. ya know? Stu, how often was it happening to heathers mum? (do i really want this question answered?) |

Sorry, Steve, didn't want to freak you out. She was awake and tells the story with glee, remembers everything, says it was really weird feeling her heart stop. With heathers mum, it was happening every day over a period of a few years before they burned out the offending node. She had a high pulse for a minute or so, jumping from 50 bpm to 220 bpm, then it would settle and so on and so forth, until she eventually needed it done as it wouldn't settle so readily by itself. She said that there are new methods coming up for treatment including inserting probes in the vessels? to find the problem and then burning out the problem node, or medications, but the meds often have side effects. With her, when she was on the meds, they slowed her down so much that she couldn't really function properly. I find this heart stuff really interesting. Heather has a faulty av node. The top half and bottom half don't talk to each other, and beat at different rates. Her resting heart rate is around 45 bpm, which freaks out the obstratitians. When she gave birth to our first child, they had her hooked up to all sorts of machines and cn ecg cause they thought she would go into cardiac arrest due to the stress of labour. However, she had no problems. They relaxed a bit for number 2, now with number 3, she still has to see the medical complications obstatrician, but I think it is basically for their benefit, as her heart trace is so weird, they always have student nurses and doctors in with them and use her as a bit of a guinea pig, andthey are all fascinated. You need to get a good GP I reckon, get a bit of a case history happening, so that when you end up in hospital, they take you serious and don't keep hammering you with the drug and alcohol questions... |

Excellent advice. you love a case study Steve. Make yourself one. I've had a stroke already, very mild thank God, I was down for an hour and weak for a few days. My problem is I get very lazy with my diet. And healthy food is trendy food is expensive food. And I a poor mad scientist spending everything on bits of Aqua stuff. That's another reason I put up my greenhouse, to get my diet right. Guess you're still wondering. I'm 39. Stroke at 38. I absolutely thrashed my body as a young man... |

I also am doing this for diet reasons. A lot of people on both sides of the family have gone from heart problems (my Dad had his first heart attack a month ago at 64, his Dad died at 56, I have high cholesterol and am on Crestor at 37), and I thought a steady supply of fish and vegetables/salads would help a lot. I even thought that if this were to be a business that it would be good to look for regions of the country where heart attacks are high, as a lot of people leave the hospital looking to change their diet. Areas far from fresh seafood would be better still (the Midwest or near West comes to mind). |
