I think I need to hang out at the tip a few days a week. just in case. but knowing the area where I live all I'll get is lab burners, test tubes and beakers. oh and probably Hepatitis A to Z if I touch any of it.

Thought so!

Not in anyway condoning their acts, but once again its the GREED that busts them.........

the fire brigade got called by a neighbour because the meter mox was on fire............bypass circuit couldnt handle the load. If they would have just paid for the few thousand worth of juice then they wouln't have come undone.

Had this discussion with someone the other day, i think 'they' are under the misconception that the high energy bill will give them away.

1) you're a paying customer to the elec. company why would they care? They're more likey to care when there is out-of-balance between suppied and metered power

2) i dont think the usage would have been TOO extreme anyway. no people just lights. My household electricity bill gets quite big in the winter qtr because my heating is elec, not gas. imagine the usage of a customer with elec. water, cooking, heating +appliances........

dont even know why i'm writing this LOL, just made me laugh that for a few thousand they got pinched for 80K of product. not to mention the 10 years jail time that although not likely is possible.

They should get a bloody good oil burning generator and do a system without the mains. Would have cost less.

And the cops work on a different approach here but electric bills, they have thermic cameras and film the houses, lamps get nice and red on the film. And are starting to test people on the roads, quick test and blood analysis, then a visit to your hoem and your done.

Anyway i find it is stupid to grow to sell, lots of risks for a short functionning period, most of the commercial systems get tracked down after 2-3 years of use. Add to that 2-3 years of prison or fines and you get to same point as if you had found a better way to make money with a good agricultural knowledge.

isn't it true! i'm amazed at the lengths people go to avoid work. its easier just to work!

Electronic thermal imaging cameras were high end just when i left the instrumentation SO i worked at. now they're relatively cheap. and good!

played with one at home once, 0.5C temp resolution in colour, you could see foot prints on tiles for about 1.5 sec after someone walked on them

They found production units in England, people were renting flats, doing a big growing system and sticking an illegal chinese inside to take care of the plants and prepare all the stuff.
I suppose that the camera would be a good thing for those poor exploited blokes, and made in china too.
I'd love to have one and drive around in town to see where it gets red and count, i think the results would be amazing.
