I'm looking at paving a walk way and courtyard in my new house with limestone. it looks great and stays cool on the feet.
I'm after the type tha'ts liquid and pours in so i avoid ants and weeds.
the problem, is i can't believe how disgustingly expensive places are. $70 a sqr metre? are they joking? I think there is a bit a *sigh* factor here, limestone is a common material here in WA, it shouldn't be expensive.

does anyone know of a competitive company that can do it for roughly $40 - $50/sqr metre?

The best bet would be to ask C1, some of my friends just done theirs but it was normal concrete with a limestone cover.

nah that's hellish expensive for what it is. they just buy up the gravel and crap from the limestone quarries, it's not even usable material to begin with. then they mix it with god knows how much concrete.
if i did all the digging and form work myself do you reckon i could get it cheaper?

Theres quite a high demand for the crushed up limestone now a days.. Most limestone blocks you buy are made by reconstitution rather than cutting whole limestone..

the crushed stuff is just the dregs, i'm highly suspect that they are mostly concrete. i don't feel right paying $70+ a sqr meter for fancy concrete.
i'm leaning towards pavers now. pavers won't crack, and i can replace them if they get stained or damaged. plus i can lay them myself (so i know it'll be bloody well done properly).
I can deal with the ants and the weeds vs the risk of cracks and the extra expense.
laying pavers myself is less then $1500 in total, for the pour in concrete it's $4000. the funny thing is the pavers are exactly the same stuff as the concrete, and MORE labour intensive to lay.

Yep thats why slabs are cheap timmy any T.A. silly bugger who only wants to cover the ground (for a while) can do it!!
Personally I think slabs look like shyte unless they have 'other' expensive things done...
But just remember they are thick and thin corner to corner, slab to slab oh and they do crack if not properly placed ;-)...
Liquid limestone, well, you could get a truck to back up discharge and
do it yourself!
I mean, well, if you are going to have screed bars for the pavers, why not chuck in some of the wet stuff and screed it off...
It must be easy if you think you are being ripped off paying $70/Sq.
Oh and same concrete I don't think so... it is either swan offwhite or cockburn creme (both expensive) or another brand!
Chalk and cheese, but I don't eat chalk so I don't know the difference.

So what your saying is because pavers can be done diy they gouge you on the concrete?
the pavers look good, and aren't hard to lay. rent a compacter and diamond bladed cutter and make sure you measure everything and get it square and you'll do a professional looking job.
The main reason i can't lay the concrete myself is i'd be really pushing it for time to screed off all that surface area solo.

Its only 6 cu mtrs timmy, you should be able to smash it in, in what, 3hrs
with a mate.
Your conc will cost you about 1700.
57 sq mtrs is bugger all, just Monday we put 40cu (300sq mtrs) in a house slab with 3 of us in 6hrs.
Question- What is your hourly rate times x 2 x 5 plus conc and a few tools,
can't be as much as $4000 can it?
Give it a whirl, piece of cake mate!

Personally prefer pavers (solids). Concrete gets crappy after a while esp white/cream and you can't shift it around for changing circumstances and it cracks.
Limestone slabs are a pain in the ass to work with brittle messy and overpriced.
Cool on the feet is a relative term in summer, you also have to put up with blindingly bright.
