Hey all, i tried googling this, but to no luck. Is there such thing as a new website syndrome? Eg you launch a site, works for a couple of hours, and then nothing?

Would all the search engines be copying all the text/images/links/etc for displaying on search results or something? Would that actually slow it down to the point where the page does't load?

I think i am clutching at straws....

thanks

Yeah can ftp it fine. I got rid of the index file (the page in construction page) and it automatically redirected to the default (homepage) file. The thing that puzzles me the most is that i hadn't changed any files for a good hour before it stopped working (was browzing the site checking stuff (not changing) when the pages got abit laggy and then stopped working.....

What was your page written in? Is it just html? I'm not quite sure why you want to redirect automatically from your "in construction" page.. What is the code you've used for the redirection? It seems like it might be thats where it gets stuck.

The Page is asp based, written with Adobe Dreamweaver. The Index.asp page which was the in construction page, was removed totally from ftp. Then when you went to the website, instead of going to the index.asp (which was now non existant) it went (automatically)to the default.asp page (which was the propper home page)
They told us to just remove the index.asp page when we were ready to go online....and it did work (for a while)

i'm not much help with asp. but i'd put money there is a problem with the default.asp page, as when i adress it directly the page behaves the same, forever loading.

a suggestion?

rename the default.asp page and reload the construction page but name IT default.asp

The if it loads then you know that the problem is in the code of the proper default.asp, not in any redirections or actual server issue. get my drift?

what i lack in knowlege i usually can make up for in problem solving ;)

Hey Daniel - what's that site you've got in your post footer. Doesn't seem to work.
