The following is a true story...
Only the names have been changed to protect the (not so) innocent.

Fred's - Top tips for moving a tap

Tip 1 - Call a plumber

Tip 2 - If you do not heed the advice of tip 1. Don't waste halve a bottle of MAPP GAS trying to braise ¾", buried, water-filled copper pipe.

Tip 3 - After attempting and failing tip 2. Drive to work and borrow the OXY kit. (Oh, so easy with the right gear !) But...

Tip 4 - When you succeed with tip 3. Remember that the water main is turned off, and the hose does not work. This is especially important when the neighbour's garden is on fire :!:

Tip 5 - Considering tip 4, Use a bucket and water from the fish pond to put out the fire.

Tip 6 - After completing tip 5. Count the fish in the pond. If the count is low, rescue the fish from the smoldering embers and place back in pond.

Tip 7 – Whilst retrieving the fish, as noted in tip 6. Ensure that your now excited dog does not burn her nose on the hot pipe!

Tip 8 - Refer tip number 1

Well...
The neighbour won't be impressed, the goldfish is swimming on it's side, and the dog has a sore nose.

But you've got to laugh :)

Fred reports....
1) the gold fish is OK
2) the dogs nose is fine.
3) the neighbour, is not fussed about a few charred weeds.
4) and the tap works
-apparently, it was a very small fire (but, never let these minor details get in the way of a good story!)

All is good :D

LOL.

yeh is HARD (read: impossible) to braze a pipe with water in it. will maintain a temp of 100C until the water boils and then the pressure will still make it impossible :)

thanks for the laugh :)
