Medium rare does not feature in my vocab........when i'm done with it you can use the steaks as heat beads Got another funny pyro story for ya: We had a spit roast lamb here one new year eve.......thoguh i'd make the spit "insta-light" Set up the layer of heat beads and then doused them with metho (i try to use metho when every possible, its 95% ethanol and clean burning even in a lack of O2, not like dirty petrol) What can i say, i'm an environmentaly friendly, food grade pyro On post shock analysis, the 25cm gap under the grate that the heat beads lay on provided a beautiful 7:1 air / fuel mixture................ It certainly was "insta-light" but the ensuing BOOM did rattle me a tad Only problem with metho is the light blue flame............your leg can be on fire and you don't know about it until it gets hot.........like the tom and jerry cartoons. LOL |

ROFLMAO Thank goodness, you are food grade!! Here here on the metho- in year nine a guy dropped a trangia full of metho on his foot and then realised it was on fire- the ensuing dance was a crackup! We needed you at a lamb spit roast we did when a heap of us went camping in the flinders Ranges where I was working many moons ago. The fire just never really got going, and we only had sticks to prop the carcass up, but we all got cactus drunk and started eating slabs of semi cookedluke warm lamb fat on bread, too smashed to care. It was an unforgetable night, and certainly some of the most disgusting food I have ever eaten! |

Funny stuff! 3 days later the carcas was still sitting on the spit and was a little fly blown, what better way to sanitise and dispose of it than to burn it? SO i once again broke out the metho and "lit her up". Problem was that it was that really HOT summer, like a week of 38C, total fire ban days, windy as hell and the grass in the back yard wasn't exactly green. I realised it was a bad idea when all the aniumal fat started melting and dripping onto the fire. The wind was really bad, and i had 5 foot flames. I had to shut it down with the hose. |
