| Post subject: | Hi all, great forum |
I stumbled upon your forum today and got sucked in. I'm especially interested in the Flout valves and the thread about duckaponics I think is wonderful. I've got lots more reading to do. My background is from the Hydroponics side of things and wanting to go more organic. I'll be back in the future I'm sure. TCLynx www.TCLynx.com |

are we suggesting an analogous relationship between the 'Hotel California' and 'Aquaponics' ?? This is troubling... especially given the curry DW gives me over my addiction to this forum... |

Hi all, and thank you, jazzplayermark, I'm in Tangerine if you have any idea where that is, I have to say I didn't recognize the name of your town in your profile. If I were to get mail delivery to my house, the mailing address would be Mount Dora though Tangerine does have a post office, go figure. I'm in the very NW corner of Orange County. Oh, yea, and I do know about the nature of forums, the other half is quite jealous of the computer. I've been moderating one Hydro forum that has been quite defunked for a while, I've had a few forums of my own just because, and I've been an avid reader/poster on Many forums. I have a small outdoor Hydroponics system that I've been kinda thinking I should turn into something more like a water garden for a while. I've already noticed a couple small frogs living in the reservoir. I am interested in growing some edible pond plants (like lotus) but I expect setting up some grow beds for filtration will be a good thing too. The other half really wants some chickens but I'm rather intrigued by the duckaponic idea. I wonder If I can convince him that duck eggs would be just as good as chicken eggs (I'm not entirely sure of that myself as I've never eaten a duck egg.) Anyone able to throw in an opnion about which is better? We do have plenty of neighborhood dogs and cats so we would have to protect whatever we get. Anyway, I should probably get going and get some stuff done today. Thanks TCLynx www.TCLynx.com |

I've heard that duck eggs are better for making baked goods with. I've never tasted duck eggs, but have had some other kind of egg. It was slightly smaller and specked with a harder shell. Can't think of what kind of bird laid it, but a fellow at the farmer's market had both chicken and this kind of egg. At any rate, it tasted the same as a chicken egg. |

Hi TC, I prefer duck eggs over chicken eggs. Duck eggs have a slightly stronger flavour, when you cook them the white is ever so slightly translucent. The shells have a waxier feel to them. My ducks are very old and wouldn't dream of doing anything so strenuous as laying an egg these days |
