I'm beginning to think the imposition of compulsory sterialization of cretins is perhaps a relevant social policy after all

LOL steve that was great. I happen to believe that we peaked in 2005 myself for global production.

The world is going to have hell to pay if we dont stop what we are doing and change... as far as I know 80% of all people act like that hillbilly in seriousness that is the problem. I see people driving around for no other purpose but to go to starbucks 3-4 times a day or did when I lived in Washington State it was lunacy. Hell I did not understand how they could afford that at 3.48/gal.

I for one hope that oil breaks 100$ next week. I am also hoping that it starts to breach the psychological barrier that peak oil is real.

But you know you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see what gets filled first. Truly you cannot count on people to do the right thing so you must do it yourself.

I am also of the opinion that global peak oil production was reached sometime in late 2005. We may find more fields, but they are all small compared to what the world used to have.

there's plenty of oil out there.
it's just large amounts lie under ecologically sensitive area's like the great barrier reef, and we have no way of getting it out without damaging them and costing us more then the oil.
the USA also has large reserves they won't touch due to enviro laws.
peak oil is total speculation anyway, no one REALLY knows because many oil producing countries keep their reserves a state secret.

No there's not plenty of oil out there..... Not when you consider our current usage and increasing demand. Yes it is speculation, just like many countries who state their remaining oil reserves, they keep increasing the figures even though they make no new oil finds. This is so they can sell more oil under the caps that OPEC have introduced.

You have to trust the geologists like Hubert who have spent their whole lives searching for oil, working for oil companies. He picked the peak of US oil, and his prediction was spot on, and he also picked the peak of world oil which is about now...
