Don't know if you have played with Google Earth, but it is a lot of fun. I didn't know that we are at a location similar to the Southernmost part of Australia. http://earth.google.com/ Caution: Free up a couple of hours in your schedule before downloading - very addicting. I think it would be fun to post people's lat/longs, but you can only export in kmz or kml formats. For us, you can just type in Cashtown, PA, because it is a tiny little town. Australia has great resolution, and Sydney is beautiful from the air! |

South Central, 8 miles W of Gettysburg. A close friend of mine lived in Melbourne, (Fla, no relation to the other one!) and went to Florida Institute of Technology, now he's in Tampa doing ocean biology work for the Hillsborough County EPA. We use his house as a flop house to visit Busch Gardens and Disney! I'm hoping to get some info from him since he's an expert, although his specialty is benthic organisms, i.e. deep sea worms. Not very sexy. We always teased him that he shouldn't go into detail about what he studies when talking with women, or to lie and say he works with dolphins! |

Some of the places are a bit flash Dave - but many are not. Ours is like the least flash around. That's how we could afford it here. People consider us to be out in the sticks, but we are not really that far from the city. I like it here, it is quite peaceful. West of the house you will see my shed. On the North side of the shed is a big concret skirt. I am considering putting my greenhouse there, or alternativelly on the western side of the shed, where I can still have it facing North. Might be a bit silly to put the greenhouse on the concrete. This area will be very popular with the kids when they get a bit older, for riding bikes, playing basketball and cricket etc. |

Not that I can find... are the maps the same in the payed version - some sections of the map seem to be of a lower resolution than others! |

Some pictures are from airial photographs and others are from satelite. The airial photographs are better resolution (that's what I have heard is the case anyway). The pictures in the free version are quite old. Have a look at estates in your area that are only 2 or so years old. Chances are they will be dirt. |

I have picked up on that too... A friend totally redid her garden, but in the map it is still what it looked like before she bought the place... And several structures at the school I teach at are missing too, which makes that section of the map at least 3 years old! |

I can type in lat/long, but only if I type it with a degrees, minutes, seconds characters. Like, I was able to type x°y'z" S, x°y'z" E to get your house. Your neighbor across the street with the blue roof went nuts on the roof complexity. Also, there is a cool offset on the boundary of your neighborhood, where the pool and roof are shown twice. The data for our neighborhood was updated just a little while ago. The new patch is in the winter; the boundary is just two houses down from us! D'oh! Our house looks to be about: 39°52'42" N, 77°20'50" W |

That's not an offset Dave. The people in my neighbourhood like to buid granny flats benind their main house. They make them exactly the same as the main house, including duplicating the pool.  .
Had never noticed that roof. Must look at it in real life - bit difficult to see the detail on google. |
