Well, that is what I have been told, over and over. Safety. I have not been on the forum lately as I have been really sick. I have had psoriasis for a long time. It was one of those things you just deal with. Well, last March it got worse and my main Dr. was not helping so we tried some herbs. They helped for a while, but I got worse, and as of August I could hardly stand with the pain in my ankle, and my left hand was swelling and blistered. On October 15 I could not stand or use my left had as it was so swollen. A friend of mine got me into her Dr. One on her first questions was do you do much gardening. Having heard about the fish, she said I had contacted a bacteria and fungus. Her main concern was that it had gotten into my blood stream. She put me on a strong anti-biotic and a fungicide. Now I am up and about and don't scare people when they see my hand. It is late and I can not find the pictures Bethany took of my ankle, but I will post them soon to show you what can happen if you are not careful. I have not been permitted, per my husband to get near the fish. My son Chad has been caring for them. I hope to be back working with them soon once I get some long rubber gloves. Always wash your hands and make sure you do not have any open sores when you are working with water. Obviously, this is not the norm, as so many people work with their systems, but I had been with them for 2 years before developing this, and it was because of the cracked skin from the psorasis.

Best Wishes to all of you
Joyce

Joyce, thanks for that post, I never thought twice putting bare hands
into sh**ty water or solvents.

Without consequence till now but will sure be more careful now.

Get well and take care, Steve S.
