The search feature of this forum doesn't work as I expected. I've suspected it of being buggy for a while but just ascribed it to early onset dementia. Anyway, if I perform a keyword search for "wetearth Brisbane" & check "search for all terms" it finds zero matches. Notably, it fails to find this topic: http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum ... .php?t=967 It still fails if I do "wetearth and Brisbane" and check "... use query as entered". |

why complicate things just use wetearth - works a treat (and check "display results as posts") |

And remember to check the "Posts" button rather than the default "Threads" |

There's so much useful information here. It's frustrating to be unable to find something because there's a serious bug in the search feature - to whomever hosts this site, [glow=red]PLEASE FIX IT![/glow] Another example: searching on "best and zero" returns a whole bunch of results with _only_ "zero" appearing in them. Yep, I usually do. |

Now if you were a software programmer you wouldn't see them as "bugs" at all...... They'd be design enhancements |

On a serious note Scottie, the original PHP developer(s) that designed the site are no longer around and contactable.... If you have any experience with PHP .... PM Joel he'd be delighted. |

RupertofOZ wrote: the original PHP developer(s) that designed the site are no longer around Bugger. How much did they modify/enhance phpBB? It's a shame the site can't be upgraded to the latest version of phpBB - I'm sure such a serious bug would be fixed. RupertofOZ wrote: If you have any experience with PHP .... PM Joel
I've developed in PHP before. To my mind this is more of a software upgrade issue, than a get-down-and-dirty-with-the-code thing. |

scotty, don't know if any iof the usual operands like " " & and work with the search. Unfortunatly the board was modded rather heavily before the modder cut and run. i've tried a few relatively simple mods that have bummed out. |

Do you happen to know what they modified? I haven't noticed much here that seems custom made. How much effort would it take to convert the site over to vanilla phpBB? |

Yeah I'm back on.... There are over 90 different mods that are installed on the board so I don't think it's going to be an easy thing to play with... |

I just downloaded & installed the latest version of phpBB ... it's very different! Maybe email me search.php & I'll take a look. I can't promise anything though. |
