So have been all excited about getting this parrot I helped raise and then trained back right. Been a long 3 week count down and I'm used to taking 6 week marine tank cycles in my stride.
Anyway last night find out an old mate I served with just got cleaned up by a car on his mbike. Broken neck and back..........
big strong lad... kinda heavy. But he might walk again, maybe 1% chance or something.
So I am sitting here wif a big green alexandrine girl on me shoulder feeling a bit average on what should be a happy day.
The hangover and discovery of a dead baby octopus (the feeders in it's tank were over fed at our partee... ammonia spike doh) hasn't helped.
But ya got one of me birds back.
Feeling guilty for smiling at the mongrel thing. But ya life.... wacky hey.
Lismore down the road almost gets destroyed with hail and a TORNADO... sahara gets snow.
My bird now also says 'Are you serious? Good morning? Barks... ' and I'm sure many more. Anyone else keep these annoying destructive feathered dinosaurs?
:?

Sorry to hear about your mate's wreck. That's rough. My first boyfriend had been hit by a car when he was eight. Paralyzed from the chest down. He didn't let it stop him from doing anything, though. Be there for your mate and help him hang in there.

ive had a mate break his neck as well ( happend the day before my 22 birthday) not in a crash but at the beach, he ran in to the water and tripped on a wave then tried to turn it into a dive but the water was too shalow

anyways to make the story short, it sucks big time to be in traction and the brace you have to wear after is more a torture device than an aid

so hope all goes well for your mate

Cheers

Is it a chilled out green boy or a pretty red crazy a$$ed girl? This girls quite chilled out, nice bird but she can nag if she is bored. Kinda hard when she gets bored early lol
It's my mates 3rd bad bike crash... the second one was while we were deployed overseas together and he has spent a while in traction already.
Not afraid of a bit of pain tho, so he is going to be giving it everything to get mobile again.
Just strange for it to be all happening so far away outta sight hey.
Ya know if a human lives to a certain age it is 100% definite they will get back problems along the way. Talk about bad design.....

Ya it's a girl alright. I wouldn't say naggy... I would say they just bite ya everynow and again so you agree they are the boss! The boys are much more chilled out.
Geeez they are just so pretty tho hey.
My bird kinda looks like the male ecclectus.
Same sorta shoulder scratchin claws and destructive beak.
So is your mate training this bird? Get in young with it as they get harder to mold as they grow. My current bird spent quite a while in the naughty box before it became the charming citizen it is today :)
