I thought that since many folks here are outdoors types and probably have accumulated many hours in the wilds that there may be some tales of strange experiences and sightings of strange creatures. This has been a quiet interest of mine since I was about 18 when I experienced a ?meeting? in the deep rainforest behind the Gold Coast in Queensland...if you would like I'll tell you my tale...come closer...look into the flames...

Well listen up little Johnnie and I'll tell you a tale to curl your nasal hair...come closer...don't be afraid, I have a blue card...
I was an avid bushwalker at age 18 and had done many solo expeditions in the rainforests of SE Qld, as well as much camping on various islands (Moreton, Stradbroke, Curtis, Facing etc). Many times I have experienced the feeling of "being watched". You know, when the bush around you goes quiet and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I have often camped in what is known as the Lamington Wilderness area, an enormous national park on the Qld/NSW border that Romeo Lahey and Arthur Groom worked hard to establish during the 1900's. You may have heard of Bernard O'Reilley, a bushman born in the Colo district of the Blue Mountains, NSW. He and his brothers Pat, Norb and Luke (possibly more, memory fails) bought tracts of land in this area before it was set aside for national park, and established dairy farms during the depression years and packhorsed milk and cream many miles to the Kerry butter factory. Lamington NP is an area of high mountain ranges disected by deep dark gorges with crystal clear streams flowing down to the river flats below. The Aboriginal tribes of the area believed that the high ranges were sacred, although that may not be the right word, and that "something" would happen to you if you ventured there. Are you listening, Johnnie...
