Guys

If his profile is correct, we are truely honored having a Jazz legend such as Vince Jones as a member of our humble forum and fellow aquaponicist. Reading the insightfulness of his posts today, I have no doubt it is correct.

I have "For All Colours" on vinyl and recently I have been listening to "Come in Spinner" with Vince Jones and Grace Knight. Living in Canberra and now Brisbane, I haven't been to many Jazz clubs but in 2005 while visiting Melbourne, I spent several nights at Bennets Lane and thought I was in heaven.

May I recommend you visit his home page http://www.vincejones.com.au/index.html and take the opportunity to listen to his music, great stuff.

Welcome Vince. I look forward to seeing pictures of your setup.

cheers
Derek

From his only two posts on the forum I can say I already don't like his music. Sorry.

I thought we were trying to get away from generalizations DT...... Rather a poorly thought out statement don't you think...?

I went and listened WITHOUT prejudice, and although I'm not a big jazz fan I thought it was pretty damn good music... :D

I don't know Vince personally, and I'm aware that he may have trodden on a few sensitivities with perhaps the bluntness of his expression of his views... particularly in the thread involved....

However I am aware, and you'll see the same reflected in his biography that Vince has been an outspoken advocate against war and violence for many years... he is also an avid, dedicated conservationist, and one who is willing to act not just talk.

As I say, his expression of his point of view has obviously touched on peoples sensitivities, but he has been quietly reading through this forum for many months and has indicated that he is about to commence building a system.

His interest in AP is obvious and I think we should perhaps be prepared to extend a welcome to him on that positive aspect.

Despite the political and ideological differences of many here within the forum, here at least we can and generally are bound by a common goal and mind set.... one which ultimately is more aligned I believe to the overall good of humanity than the current state of foreign policies of both our governments would appear to be.

As my signature suggest, I do have some belief that Vince has a point of view that is shared by many people in the world and a point of view that must, for the benefit of ALL humanity, be raised and heard.....

The future of our children and all humanity is at stake in the next decade....

I for one would hope that WAR is NOT the only option discussed.

Nothing general about my statement. I thought I was being pretty specific. I too am an individual and I choose not to listen to his music. I am sorry EB, if you think my statement was poorly thought out. Words have consequences, they actually mean things. Vince could not really expect to make the kind of statements he did and not think there would be an opposing view. I see no reason to rush out and support someone whose views I don't particularly agree with. My mistake I guess was in thinking I could make the statement here. In the future I will not do so. Again I am sorry.

Please DT.... you are exactly right that you should post your view as you felt.... and that's what Vince has done.....

Please don't with-hold your views and posts DT, or we'll all be lesser for it.

Perhaps the point being made was that we need to take some care in our postings that we don't direct things towards a specific person or individuals when criticising a "system" or an "issue"

Perhaps EB thought your reponse was as "ill-conceived" as that of Vince, in terms of personalising the issue.

I do however understand that you have felt offended, likewise I really don't beleive that Vince was personally attacking anyone individually

Well Rupert,

I learned a lesson. A very wise woman named Joyce stated that politics and religion are issues never to be resolved on this forum. In the future I will not read nor comment on issues not having to do with AP. AP, after all is why I am here.

Fair enough DT, it's always been a fine line trodden on issues like those....

But issues will never be resolved without discussion.

And regardless of your political persuations, whether I might agree with them or not, I for one have always admired your practical application of your principles and the work you do for others.... oh... and your AP systems :D

And that I hope will never change.

DT maybe you missed EB's point (or maybe you didn't) i think he was highlighting your apparent skill in judging a persons talent in a field by their views in politics...................

On this forum we are all free (to an extent of course) to express any information, views and opinions that we feel is related to the topic. As a member of a forum you mustn't take peoples opinions personally. Fair enough if someone comes on here name calling or what not, but not if someone is expressing a valid point of view. You don't have to accept it but recognize it as an individuals point of view.

Your just strengthening what Vince said in his posts. If you disagree with his views, then prove him wrong by being more accepting of his right to his opinion.

Dear Friends on this forum. Everything that all have said is true. Every one is entitled to their opinion. It is a well known fact that when talking about politics and religion people have "strong" opinions. The point being that when we express our opinions we must also care about the opinions of others. I have very strong opinions concerning many subjects but consider the feelings of my friends over my opinions. Therefore, when we read a strong opinion we can value the person while not agreeing with their opinion. The last thing we want to do is lose the valuable input concerning AP of our friends. When we see that someone is hurting in a specific area, such as Vince is concerning war, we must realize that he has those opinions for a reason, where we may not agree with how he states his opinions he is valued for who he is. When we come to a place that no one is going to "win" we must agree to disagree and continue on being friends.

DT your opinions are as valued as everyone else's. I agree that when we see that our opinion is hurting someone else, we must move back to what we all agree on, Aquaponics, for this is why we are here, because we are hooked on AP. :)
