Well recently our eldest son asked if I would be interested in making his girlfriends birthday cake, as I used to make all the cakes when the children were little as well as some of their clothes. Our youngest is now 20. I said yes. Obviously we all got carried away and this is the result. They are having a fancy dress party and Daniel said he would hide the cake in the spare room and then bring it out. I said no you won't I spent too much time for you to hide it. I don't think I have decorated a cake for about 15 years. And never even heard of ganache until reality cooking shows come on the scene. So we have a swirled chocolate and white mud cake on the bottom and a white mud cake on top, they have a layer of gananche and then fondant, we used to call it plastic icing and the piped work is done in royal icing. It isn't quite finished and will be assembled on site tomorrow after I finish my guest appearance on "Lets talk gardening" on Curtin fm radio.
Aaah all in a days work, well not quite, but it has been an experience.
