You live in the West Charlie, every other state thinks we are rolling in money..... which is only partly true...

The way things are going... we might have a few economic refugees fleeing eastward in the near future...

I hope Abbott can stop the cars at the border... and turn them around.... only if it's safe to do so of course... :D

I think for a farm that size we'd need a few people helping. Besides, I don't know the first thing about running a fish farm hehe

We're actually in a bit of trouble here in the goldfields. It's been labeled the biggest business slump in the areas history. With the crash of the gold price, high labour costs, massive taxes and weakening Aussie dollar there has been massive amounts of lay offs. Our company has cut about 300 jobs in the last couple of weeks and nearly all of our Aussie mines are up for sale. I'd be surprised if I have a job by the end of the year. I'm not the only one heading east because of it.

Usually we see a bit of a lull around election time but I've never seen it this bad. Every day I read in the paper about jobs lost, company cut backs and business closure or sale. It's a bit scary. It costs our company about $1200 to produce an ounce of gold so as it hovers around that area we start to get a bit nervous.

My mate works for barrack. Seen a few good mates go in the last few weeks. Its amazing the cost to produce these days when you look at the gold price 10 years. You can bet they were making money back then. Certainly glad I'm not in the gold game. Wish I was in the fish farming game though... :P

Why is it costing that much Charlie... up until a decade ago.... the gold price basically hovered around the $300-$400 mark... for donkeys years... and the mine was operational....
