"It feels really good," Jamison said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."

Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Monster Pig. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50- caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

Through it all, there was the fear that the animal would turn and charge them, as wild boars have a reputation for doing.

"I was a little bit scared, a little bit excited," said Jamison, who lives in Pickensville on the Mississippi border. He just finished the sixth grade on the honor roll at Christian Heritage Academy, a small, private school.

His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast, with 5- inch tusks, decided to charge.

I don't know... That just sounds a bit wrong to me, for an 11 year old kid...?? :?

Any time I shot a pig in NZ and didn't drop him first time, you could gaurantee he'd either take off flat out, or more often than not charge....

Eight times with a 50 caliber...... not even sure a 50 cal revolver has a 8 shot chamber or mag....

Hummmmm

The part that worries me is that he killed his first deer at 5 years old. You can't convince me that a kid that young has the attention span to handle a gun safely.

Fair chance that Dads probably a bit slack and forgetful where he leaves the ammo as well I reckon.....

All you can do is hold your breath and hope he gets through high school without too much teenage angst or trauma

thats still alot of bacon. i shot my first deer when i was 12, 5 is kinda young, somebody was prolly holding the gun for him, which in my state is not legal. i feel if you are going to keep guns in a home with kids, you need a gun safe. i bet even a adult with crowbar and a few hours would have a very hard time getting to my guns. i lock up anything that may hurt my kids, and now i no longer use any dangerous chemicals inside or outside my home. it is kinda weird to let someting go, just to have to chaise it down again to kill it. would have been easyer to kill it the first time it was caught.
that is like taking a chicken out of the coop and chaising it around with a shotgun, when you could have just broke its neck. the reason i want to raise rabbits is so i dont have to spend all day walking in the brush to hunt them.

Yeah, it's killing for the sake of a "fun kill".. No real need for the pig to suffer for hours just so some 11 year old can get his picture in a paper..
