1. Waking up to Magpies singing outside. Always get a smile when I hear them singing and talking away (except at 4am in summer) 2. The fish banging the walls of the fish tank. You know they are alive. 3. Fish splashing on the surface as they grab their food. Gets a chuckle from most people who come and check out my system. You have to duck down and crouch to see them. 4. Bubbling of the brew kit as it ferments. Love the smell too. 5. Frogs croaking at first rains. |

The sound of a truck reversing with loads of sheep manure. The blue wrens and whistling kite. The discovery of a new noise in the middle of the night - gekkering on a still night, heard from the bedroom window. The sound of trickling water in the aquaponic system. Thunder following lightening, I love it. The sounds of the kettle boiling, not long after I wake up, means my cuppa tea is not far away. |

someone other than me running the lawn mower my coonhound baying at the discovery of some thrilling new smell the background hum of a colony of honeybees the trickle of water as I just round the corner down by the barn (means the pump is still pumping and, hopefully, the fish are still jumping) the swisssshhh of a super sharp plane peeling off a see through ribbon of an improbably hard wood |

The sound of rain after fertilising the lawns. The sound of rain after spending a day off cleaning leaves off the roof. Yay! Just a few bags of leaves. 2. The fish banging the walls of the fish tank. You know they are alive. Craziest thing I ever heard after putting in a wild black bream in my tank, the poor bugger banged himself so hard against the side.... |

Thanks guys, Had the shits hearing peoples complaining about well, shit.... Banters okay, but the rest of it? I went to uni for lectures, and got a few off mum when I wasn't really after them. Not looking at the grumpy topics anymore. Lifes meant to be fun!! The sound of rain on a tin roof. Love the smell of the first rain as well. Jaymie, thanks for that one, takes me back a few years. I remember mum ringing a cow bell when dinner was almost ready. We could herar that bell the other side of the valley, and knew we had to hot foot it home else dinner would be started without us. |
