I love how clean and neat their gardens are, makes me want to concrete my paths. So much to do, so little time. |

That family was featured on a nat geo show doomsday preppers, too. I am not sure they are really preppers so much as homesteaders. They seem to do it all in soil. I didnt see any aquaponics or fish. |

Reminds me a bit of, not being ethnic, some of the gardens in the older Perth suburbs where you saw vegies instead if a front lawn, mainly old Italians. Very nice people and would give you a look around and explain how they did it (mind you could spend ages there) If you want to go a large time back; BBC The Good Life, totally contrived but interesting nevertheless. |

I knew who that was just after reading the comments here. Definitely a neat example of one way of living. It's so impressive that they are on a normal-sized city lot instead of on 100 acres in Montana or something. |

Apparently they do have aquaponics, or at least it is on one of the bullet list on their facts list. |

very cool..... but @ 2:40 "they use the money to buy the crops they can't grow like wheat, rice and dope" Seriously though I hope they can't enforce a patent on the name "urban homestead" that is a genericized trademark if I've ever heard one! Thats like calling all soda "coke" or all window washing cleaner "windex" only its happened backwards! They started off really cool until they made it a copyright business. |

I love fine timber and good joinery. I wish I was good enough to have joints that looked as neat as this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1pvUlQgYtk |

Pond_Sucker wrote: very cool..... but @ 2:40 "they use the money to buy the crops they can't grow like wheat, rice and dope" I heard "Wheat, rice, and oats". Having the news anchor say dope would be funnier through..... |
