Every year at this time the company I work for give the option of free flu shots on site. Ive never signed up for it (because Im so healthy on AP food)... but I was wondering what others thought of the flu shot?

From my understanding you are injected with a strain of influenza which kicks off your imune system?

It is an attenuated form of last years virus, i.e. it is still 'alive' just hopefully less intense. They also chuck in a few other things to aggravate your immune system into action. The virus will still reproduce inside of you, but much slower, giving you the chance to beat it and making you ready for the real virus when it comes along.

Of course it might mutate back to its original form and give you the full on infection, you could be allergic to the other chemicals in the cocktail, or it could have been misshandled on the way from the lab and they might just inject the dead virus into you, which is not so effective.

As they mutate so often you probably won't get immunity from the latest strain, but you will be ready for it.

Personally I avoid it even though it is also free to me.

My neighbour died from the Flu at the age of 60, this was in the UK back in 1990s, not in some third world country in the 1800s.

Just avoid crowds, eat healthily, keep excerised and keep away from kids and you will be fine.

I love watching the people where I work go on about how they got the flu shot and how they will be ready for the year only to take the next week off down with the flu.

I've never had a flu shot and have never had to take time off due to the flu (besides, I'm a contractor so no work means no pay).

I don't go to work sick either as I don't want to give it to other people - I just don't get sick in the first place.

I'll bet most of them haven't got the flu though... I know someone working for a large mining company that offers flu shots every year... and a good portion of those that take up the option then take a couple of days off... saying they've got the flu or side effects from the shots... it's a lurk.

VAXIGRIP
®
is a sterile suspension of influenza virus for intramuscular or deep
subcutaneous injection. It is a purified, inactivated, split virion vaccine.

The vaccine is prepared from virus grown in the allantoic cavity of embryonated
eggs, concentrated, purified by zonal centrifugation in a sucrose gradient, split by
octoxinol 9 (Triton X-100), inactivated by formaldehyde and then diluted in phosphate
buffered saline solution to the required concentration.

The influenza vaccines are inactivated virions, hence cannot multiply.

When injected, the body's immune system mounts a response to the virions

which people mistake for the flu. Usually takes the body 3 days to perfect the response.

later on in the season when you are really infected with the flu, the body knows what to do

hence immunity starts straight away without the 3 day delay.

The end result is the flu doesn't get the chance to become as severe and you recover more quickly.

Should you get the vaccine?

Upto you.

But plenty of people die each year from complications of the flu.

There are a few places I avoid, if possible. Recirculating aircon systems, schools and doctors surgery's.

Where would you get a flu shot? That would be the last one; where would you find a number of obviously 'not well' people; that would be the last one, and in some cases with the first one (with a number of unwell children running around).

Sorry if I am going to get infected with an infection , trying to get saved from a 'possible' infection, I will pass. :)

There's also a lot of people that strongly believe vaccines are a part of population control. Its suspected that its a part if what's causing so many problems in kids these days. Rates of mental retardation and other things of that nature are pretty high these days.

Its supposedly a combination of vaccines and all the crap in our foods.

U should look up the CDC inserts on these shots. Not exactly pretty stuff.

I for one am not a fan of getting vaccines.
There's a lot of dirty secrets involved with that stuff on the up & up.

With aluminium and squalene as adjuvants and some very poor science involved in 'proving' the effectiveness of vaccines as well as rather poor quality control in the creation process (involving both contaminants AND live vaccine AND other virus types) vaccination would seem to be hazardous at best.

The chances are above fair that we would be FAR better off if they would just get back to proper agriculture practices so our foods are good for us and provide the micronutrients our bodies use to stay healthy. It would also be nice if they'd stop contaminating our food with all kinds of noxious chemicals and additives that have side effects ranging from hemorrhages to death.

Maybe then people would be able to laugh at the lab-created monsters they keep unleashing on unsuspecting populations - infections that clearly follow a different pattern to normal pandemic patterns as they spread around the world.

As for flu shots somehow being effective, the reason a flu become pandemic is because it DOESN"T have the same virion structure as the previous year - if it did, we'd mostly be immune. The ones that sweep around are different and so cannot be protected against by using last year's virus, dead OR alive.

Add to that the fact that the body defence begins with an immune system built into the mucous membranes, and that system does NOT get primed by an injection - even if the vaccine COULD work, they are training the wrong system.
