I have been a loyal voderphone customer for 10 years in the city it works ok but in the country service is crap we are starting to use the caravan a bit now and theres so many places where theres no service i rang voderphone and there solution is a 40% discount and then i could get a sim card from another provider with that option it would cost more
I have contacted a current affair we will see if that helps
The whole thing is giving me the willies

Change provider.

Vodaphone won't install additional towers out there, they focus on densely populated areas in Australia. Google Vodaphone coverage map, but don't rely entirely on their data .. read up on the areas you are visiting.

I would suggest an Optus reseller or Telstra if it's super important. I go back to Tasmania quite often and Vodaphone were totally hopeless there. I use TPG mobile now with an existing phone and I have never been out of coverage. It is $17 per month for the usual $550 worth of calls and a 1.5GB cap (this is what the telco's charge for a $50 cap). It is utilising the Optus network, so Google their coverage and see if it is suitable. If you average out the cost of the monthly bill plus buying a phone it still works out way cheaper than the other telco's, and you are not locked to any contract.

I am using the Woolworths $29 prepaid on the OPtus network, 45 days/ 5gig data/ $500 cal credit. with a rewards card you get 10% off the price. This works out to be around $17/month/3.33gig . and since it is prepaid you are not locked into any contract. I hate spruiking for the big corporations like woolies but this may suit your needs without being locked to a contract.
